Hear Don Parent, author of “The Warzone PTSD Survivors Guide,” a Vietnam War veteran who was wounded, more than a few times, on the battlefield, during the largest military campaign of the Vietnam War, the Tet Offensive.
A turning point in the war, the Tet Offensive was launched in January of 1968. “Crack the sky, shake the earth,” was the message delivered to Communist North Vietnamese forces. They were informed they were about to “inaugurate the greatest battle in the history of their country.” It was reported that approximately 85,000 North Vietnamese forces struck over 100 towns and cities.
In the end, over 58,000 North Vietnamese forces, 4,000 United States military personnel and approximately 4,954 South Vietnamese soldiers were killed. While the Tet Offensive was a tactical victory for U.S. and South Vietnamese forces, the battle became a propaganda and political win for the Communists in the North.
Hear Don Parent tell his story and our conversation on “tunnels.” From the tunnel systems built by the enemies of freedom in North Vietnam into South Vietnam, to the tunnel systems built by Islamic groups including Palestinian Hamas in the Gaza Strip into Israel, to terrorist groups in Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq, to the tunnels built by Hizballah, an Iranian backed terrorist entity now aligned with the ultra-violent Los Zetas drug cartel, we share the dangerous and often deadly result of sophisticated tunnels used by enemy forces.
